Born and raised in South Africa, Granville Cloete continues to create stunning art pieces! This South African Visual Artist is using art to express himself in a profound way.




Granville Colwyn Cloete is a well-known self- taught South African Visual Artist. Granville who is 38 years old, was born and raised in Steinkopf in the Northern – Cape, South Africa. Granville matriculated at Steinkopf, Northern Cape and then continued on to pursue a career in the Arts. This talented Visual Artist has been tirelessly working on his art career since 2001 and has accomplished much with his unique works of art.



The visual arts are art forms such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, filmmaking, design, crafts and architecture. Many artistic disciplines such as performing arts, conceptual art, and textile arts also involve aspects of visual arts as well as arts of other types.

With Granville’s passion for art and the fact that he has always ploughed his heart, soul and inner thoughts it is no wonder that his work has been displayed and sold at various exhibitions and auctions throughout South Africa. Granville Cloete has always to aimed to ensure that his work is unique and an expression of his human existence.

One of this highlights in Granville’s art career was 2016 when he was on a South African television program called FOKUS. Fokus is a South African Television Program which is broadcasted by the South African Broadcasting Corporation. The program which Granville was interviewed on was a research program focusing on the hidden talents in Namaqualand – Northern Cape, South Africa.

EXHIBITIONS, TRAINING, WORKSHOPS AND AUCTIONS:

Granville has been a busy man whose name is sure to become a household name in the very near future. Granville’s creative artworks that have been displayed on various well known art exhibitions in South Africa.


A brief breakdown of South African Art Exhibitions and training that Granville has been privileged enough to partake in.

· 2003 – 2005: Granville was part of Steinkopf / Richterveld Arts & Craft Project working as a Crafter.

· 2005: Training in ornamental stone carving by Small–Scale Mining in Britz in the North –West Province .

· 2007 – 2009: Art works on exhibit at Steinkopf Art Gallery. (Gallery was opened by Granville and another artist Pierre Cloete. Sadly the gallery is not opened at this moment in time due to financial crisis.

· 2009: Art works on exhibit at the Goegap Nature Reserve as part of a flower campaign in Springbok. One of my artworks was SOLD at a Galla Evening Dinner in Constantia in Cape –Town by FOOD Bank by the help of ART.B Gallery just to raise money for hungry children.

· 2010: Art works on exhibit at SAITEX Trade Show in the Midlands (Gauteng).

· 2011: Part of the Northern- Cape Writers Festival as a crafter where art works were exhibited.

· 2011 - 2016: Exhibited art works at various festivals like the Gariep Festival in Kimberley and the Macufe Festival in Bloemfontein .

· 2017: Art work were on exhibit at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and at the FNB Joburg Art Festival which was held in Sandton – Johannesburg.
